Competing for WWE's top prize, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, is an accomplishment that most of the male, let alone female, stars can only dream of, and is one that very few get to realise. The championship is recognised as the pinnacle of professional wrestling in America, and most probably the world. Only the very best should get a shot at it, and it should be hard to attain. Maintaining it's prestige has to be one of the most important aspects of WWE's programming. Allowing a woman to compete for the biggest and most difficult to win title in the world seems entirely improbable, even if everyone managed to reach the point of perfect gender equality. It would take a very unique combination of talent and circumstances for it to even be considered. That being said, there was one time that it almost happened. Chyna once became the #1 contender for the WWE title, although she never actually go to compete for the championship, after she subsequently lost her contendership. As much as WWE likes novelty, having a woman compete for their ultimate prize will probably always be one step too far.
