10 Mind-Blowing WWE Facts About Shawn Michaels
7. Orton Had His Number
From Shawn Michaels return in 2002 to his retirement in 2010, he lost singles matches to 21 different men. Some of them were top stars like The Undertaker, Batista and Triple H, while a few of them were to talent that never quite panned out like The Great Khali and Daivari, he even had to suffer through jobbing to his boss and his bosses’ son.
Most of those losses were due to screwy finishes, but only one man was able to go over on Michaels on five separate occasions in singles matches, and that was Randy Orton.
Orton first defeated Michaels at Unforgiven 2003, followed by the 9 Apr. 2007 episode of Raw, then Judgement Day 2007, Survivor Series 2007 and the 1 Feb. 2007 episode of Raw.
Now to be fair, the Unforgiven win was due to brass knuckles. The next match saw them pin each other and Orton was awarded the win later by The Coach. Judgment Day had Michaels storyline suffering an injury. Survivor Series had Sweet Chin Music banned, and the last one featured Orton winning with a roll up...which is the most Michaels really put him over in his career. But still, it’s something!
