10 Mistakes All Wrestling Fans Make

7. "Let's See How Things Play Out..."

When Goldberg squashed Brock Lesnar with his two moves of doom at Survivor Series 2016, a familiar refrain rang out from the lungs of the eternally optimistic.

"Let's just see how this plays out, eh? WWE might have wasted The Streak on a guy whose three-match career renaissance likely won't exceed twenty minutes in length - and if it did, it'd be boring - but let's see how it all plays out! Give WWE a chance!"

If Brock Lesnar doesn't illegally eliminate Goldberg from the Royal Rumble match and beat him in a close WrestleMania battle, I'll eat a sh*t sandwich.

How many chances does the company need? How many times must it dash your hopes? The company's recent track record with long-term storytelling is abysmal. When it isn't retconning the life out of or scrapping intriguing storylines altogether (read: replacing Daniel Bryan with Big Show as audience surrogate in autumn 2013), it chooses entirely the wrong man to invest in, long-term. WWE did plot and follow through with an intriguing six month storyline between November 2015 and April 2016 - but because the focal point was Roman Reigns, it was rejected before the halfway point.

Learn to embrace cynicism. Embrace the blackening of your heart. It makes it that much easier to take.
