10 Mistakes That Cost WWE Stars Their Careers

5. Kenny Dykstra Goes Public Over Mickie James & John Cena

There was a time when WWE management seemed quite high on Ken Doane. Known as Kenny Dykstra, he was part of The Spirit Squad, a group of cheerleading wrestlers who were cast as heels.

The gimmick worked well enough to warrant a run with the WWE World Tag Team Titles, and the Squad even feuded with the mighty D-Generation X (albeit usually in 5-on-2 scenarios).

Dykstra, who was considered a blue chip prospect, was in a relationship with former WWE diva Mickie James at the time. Suddenly, in November, 2008, the man was released from his contract, and there didn't appear to be a particular reason why he was let go.

Many simply took the contract termination as WWE telling Dykstra they didn't have anything suitable for him to do in the promotion and, in truth, he hadn't been heavily featured before being released.

Following his release, Dykstra went public regarding a supposed affair between Mickie and John Cena. This can't have endeared him to WWE, and they could have done without such allegations and negative press. Regardless, Dykstra told the story numerous times during interviews and swore it was the honest truth.

Due to this, there was little chance he would ever receive another chance in the company again. Dykstra may have been rehired further on down the line, but he shot himself in the foot by publicly badmouthing Cena.

Dyksta did participate in one of WWE.com's 'Where are They Now?' features a short while ago but a return to Titan rings does not seem likely.
