10 Mistakes WWE Can't Afford To Make With Hell In A Cell 2016

7. End TJ Perkins' Title Reign

Raw’s Cruiserweight division hasn’t thrown out too many surprises so far. The matches have been fun but largely inconsequential, and there have been few stories outside the title scene. It hasn’t been must-see television, but the Cruiserweights have been enjoyable enough, and TJ Perkins has stood-out as champion.

TJP’s feud with Brian Kendrick has taken a few sharp left turns lately (Kendrick pleading Perkins to throw this Sunday’s match was particularly strange), but their Clash of Champions match was solid. The duo have good chemistry in the ring, and with Kendrick’s redemption story nearing a conclusion, they’ll face off for the Cruiserweight Championship at Hell In A Cell.

WWE would be wise not to take the belt from Perkins, though. Kendrick is a great performer in his own right, but he’s 37 years old and fast approaching the twilight of his career. Perkins, meanwhile, is the most popular guy in the division, a great wrestler, and while his video game gimmick gets cheesy, it has given him a strong identity for fans to latch onto.

Simply put, Perkins is the perfect guy to anchor the Cruiserweights at this point. The belt is still in its infancy: it needs a strong, lengthy reign from a credible champion, and removing the belt from Perkins would derail its momentum.
