10 Mistakes WWE Made With Alberto Del Rio

1. Broken Promises

Ultimately, I think the biggest mistake that the WWE has made during Del Rio’s latest run with the company, is the simple fact that they’ve allegedly broken a number of promises along the way.

We’ve already alluded to that potential alignment with Paul Heyman, which obviously never came to fruition. On top of that though, the Wrestling Observer goes on to report that there was talk of him being “promised a main event push” and “ending up as the big Hispanic superstar babyface the company has lacked since Rey Mysterio stopped working full-time”.

Again, neither of which came to fruition.

Of course, it’s not just that neither of those things came to fruition, it’s that the reality of Del Rio’s recent run was so incredibly far away from anything resembling a “main event push”.

If that truly was one of the provisos upon which he agreed to make a comeback, you can probably understand Del Rio’s dissatisfaction with the subsequent 12 months in the company. And if he and the company do end up going their separate ways, these broken promises will likely be looked back on as the biggest mistake that WWE made in its handling of Alberto Del Rio.
