10 Mistakes WWE Made With Alberto Del Rio

When the WWE Draft made its return earlier this year, all the talk was of fresh starts, new opportunities and a New Era. For the rather unfortunate Del Rio though, the case proved to be rather different.

Instead, the Draft was likely the straw that broke the camel’s back, as Del Rio was drafted to SmackDown. Usually that wouldn’t have been such an issue; smaller roster, more opportunities at the top of the card, a potential WWE World Championship run…

Aside from all that though, the crucial footnote here was that his real-life girlfriend, Paige, would miraculously be drafted to Raw. What a terribly unlucky coincidence!

Whether or not this was an intentional move on the part of WWE, it can only have further rubbed Del Rio the wrong way. Had the company truly wanted to keep Del Rio happy and retain his services on the roster, drafting him to the same show as Paige could have been a huge step towards achieving that.
