10 Mistakes WWE Made With WrestleMania 33
6. Kevin Owens Beat Chris Jericho
One of the more anticipated midcard matches on the show saw Chris Jericho defend the United States Championship against his former best friend, Kevin Owens. After months as a team, Owens's selfishness led to their explosion, but Jericho got a measure of retaliation when he cost Owens the Universal Title in a match with Goldberg.
It was inevitable that they'd clash for Jericho's U.S. Title, and it was inevitable that Owens would win the belt - after all, Jericho is 46 and spends most of his time putting other wrestlers over, plus he's rumored to be taking a break soon. Still, Owens's win didn't have to come at WrestleMania - Jericho could have scored a surprise win, and they could have changed the title at Payback.
Given that Brock Lesnar is the Universal Champion and may not be around much, the U.S. Title needs to feel more important. Having the title change hands in a stipulation match that headlines Payback would have bene a great way to make it so.
