10 Mistakes WWE Made With WrestleMania 33

3. J.R. And Jerry Lawler Didn't Call The Main Event Together

If one week ago, news had broke that J.R. and Jerry Lawler would both be doing commentary at WrestleMania 33, fans would have been thrilled. However, if the next day it was revealed that they wouldn't be working together, people would have been rightfully annoyed.

Jim Ross's comeback to the booth was confirmed the day before the show, and while he was rumored to be calling the Brock Lesnar versus Goldberg match, it was more appropriate for him to broadcast the main event, likely Undertaker's final match. It wouldn't be surprising if Undertaker himself had requested him there.

Lawler also turned up on the show, but he only called the mixed tag team match. Why? There's no good answer. The commentary team of the Attitude Era could have done the honors for Undertaker's retirement, but instead, Lawler was unnecessarily put into a midcard match and Ross worked alongside Michael Cole and JBL. The main event was certainly memorable, but reuniting the whole late '90s gang would have added an element of nostalgia to it.
