10 MMA Submissions That Are Almost Impossible To Escape From
5. Neck Crank
This bad boy comes straight out of the catch wrestling playbook - an art which originated in the UK - and it's known as the neck crank.
Again, you want to go for that rear-naked choke, trapping one of your rival's arms with another two-on-one.
Then, as they pull your head-pushing arm out of position, you again want to tear that arm away. However, this time you need to prop that hand down behind you like a kick-stand.
This will now give your body the support necessary to make your way onto your knees, whilst you still have your other arm wrapped around their neck.
Throw your kick-stand arm back into the mix by locking in a chain grip and then lay your opponent out as flat as you can while leaning their head forward.
This will force your forearm thoroughly into your rival's windpipe and form an air-choke. This is unlike the bicep and forearm carotid artery 'strangles' we used earlier, due to the fact that the blood was being cut off instead of the air supply in those earlier submissions.
When your head gets forcefully cranked forward whilst you're spread out on your back, escape feels like a distant dream - trust me!
