10 MMA Submissions That Are Almost Impossible To Escape From

3. Kneebar

Building on that stack neck crank position, if you feel that the submission isn't on or you'd like to shoot for another body part then a knee bar is possible from here, too.

For the first part of this manoeuvre you simply have to do exactly what you did in the lead up to the stack neck crank, short of actually coming down on your opponent.

Instead, if they're resisting and trying to force themselves into an upright position, you can shoot over their body and grab their leg (right or left depending on your preference).

Once you've got hold of the leg, lean yourself onto your side and pinch your knees together like you would do for the armbar. Then, pull your rival's leg towards your face (you can press their foot against your cheek for extra torque). From here you can also put their big toe on your face for a different angle, wrap your arms around the foot in a figure-four or rotate yourself inwards and hook the leg under your armpit.

Whatever way you choose to go, when that leg is being manipulated in any of these ways the only light at the end of the tunnel is the sound of your hand hitting the mat.
