10 MMA Submissions That Are Almost Impossible To Escape From
2. Arm Triangle Choke
Any triangle submission has to have a diagonal loop which is underneath one arm and over the other. This means that your rival's shoulder will cut off the blood supply on one side and some part of your body will be cutting off the blood supply on the other.
So for this triangle, after Plan A (rear-naked choke) is aborted, you want to send your arm under your opponent's shoulder again. However, you won't be hooking that arm like we did for the Lord Collingwood. No, this time you need to send that arm cross your rival's neck and over their other shoulder.
This will create our diagonal loop.
Then, use your other arm to kick-stand as you move yourself out of your opponent's half guard by windshield wiping your leg out of their legs. Your arm will still be clasped around your rival's neck and your hand will be situated on their shoulder in a 'catch' position - a halfway point before a submission.
From here, bring your head to their head, chain grip your hands, sprawl out on the ground and begin to walk your feet towards their head until you hear a pop... I mean maybe not that last bit, but you get my point.
With your entire body weight pressed down over the top of your adversary and their shoulder helping you cut off their bloody supply, escape may be near impossible, but giving up is definitely a viable option.
