10 Modern-Era Title Reigns That Should Have Never Happened

8. Billy Kidman & Rey Mysterio (The Filthy Animals): WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship

This title run was a classic example of WCW misallocating resources during its dying days. In 2001, when this reign occurred, many of WCW's top stars had already left the company.

Given that both Rey Mysterio and Billy Kidman were extremely popular at the time, putting them in high-profile feuds would have made sense. After all, Kidman was less than a year removed from feuding with, and even defeating, Hulk Hogan. Sadly, as the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, the two men found themselves sharing the ring with the likes of Kid Romeo and Elix Skipper.

There may have come the point in time when a Filthy Animals WCW Cruiserweight Tag Title reign would have made sense, but it wasn't while the promotion was fighting for its very existence.
