10 Modern-Era Title Reigns That Should Have Never Happened

7. Eric Bischoff: WCW Hardcore Championship

Is there anything less 'hardcore' then a middle-aged television executive? While Bischoff made a decent on-air authority figure, his run as WCW Hardcore Champion was pointless.

On a May 2000 episode of Thunder, Eric Bischoff, with some outside help, pinned the legendary Terry Funk to capture the WCW Hardcore Championship. After holding the title for roughly 24 hours, Bischoff forfeited the title to Big Vito and Johnny the Bull.

If WCW wasn't going to do anything with Bischoff as champ, why have him pin an actual wrestler? Why not simply have Big Vito and Johnny the Bull beat Funk instead? This would have helped Terry Funk save face and could have also avoided the title's lineage being tarnished.
