10 Modern-Era Title Reigns That Should Have Never Happened

6. Gillberg: WWF Light Heavyweight Championship

Gillberg 600
WWE Network

The Bill Goldberg parody known as Gillberg was good for a few laughs at the time. However, this character should have never been anywhere near a title, even one as underwhelming as the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship.

WWE has never been able to make any of their lightweight championships relevant. This is usually due to bad booking and the company's tendency to resort to comedy angles when the going gets tough creatively.

Giving a 448-day title reign to a jobber is an excellent way to make a title seem worthless. If the person holding the title is seen as a joke, as was the case with Gillberg, it will be tough to get fans to take the belt seriously down the road. Any chance this title ever had of being taken seriously ended with Gillberg's title run.
