10 Moments That Cemented Your Love For Professional Wrestling
7. The New World Order Is Formed (WCW Bash At The Beach, 7 July 1996)
The formation of the New World Order brought forth an entirely different genre of love and admiration than the previous entries.
It was essentially the beginning of the pro wrestling boom of the '90s. The Attitude Era before there was an Attitude Era. It worked to such a seismic extent that professional wrestling today would be an entirely different beast had it not occurred.
Kevin Nash and Scott Hall jumping ship from the WWF to WCW was a twist in itself. They'd both been pivotal figures throughout the New Generation Era, the former going so far as to be a former WWF Champion. They fancied a change, though, instantaneously changing the game before we even knew it when they each debuted on separate Nitro episodes.
When joined by Hulk Hogan at the 1996 Bash At The Beach pay-per-view, everything we knew about pro wrestling was about to change.
Hulkamania was finally, officially dead. The old guard was out, making way for an industry-defining stable. It served as the final piece of the puzzle that Eric Bischoff had been masterfully building in the years prior. The execution was superlative, the payoff even grander, the immediate aftermath game-changing.
Without it, an entire generation of pro wrestling fans simply wouldn't have maintained that passion.
