10 Moments WWE Didn't Want Us To See (But We Did Anyway)
4. Aleister Black Completely Misses The Freak - NXT TakeOver: Chicago II
In all seriousness, it's rather astounding that this hasn't happened more often over the course of the now-Malakai Black's in-ring career.
The former NXT Champion possesses one of the single most impressive finishers in the game today. However, in order to successfully execute the crowd-popping Black Mass, a certain amount of teamwork is required. In the case of his infamous exchange with Lars Sullivan at NXT TakeOver: Chicago II said teamwork was unfortunately nowhere to be seen.
Instead of catching The Freak with his heel on the back of suddenly rotating like a ball of fury, Black caught nothing but air. Sullivan was, quite simply, on another planet at this point, leaving Black both men looking a tad foolish as the challenger crumbled to the floor and the NXT Champion rushed for a cover.
Luckily, the botched finisher didn't end the contest. But WWE still made an effort to cover up the lack of synchronisation by the time the match hit the WWE Network, skilfully cutting the move together to make it look like it connected as usual. Two Black Masses later, those live memories of Air Mass were dramatically overshadowed anyway.
