10 Money Matches WWE Rushed To Give Away For Free
10. AJ Styles Vs. Daniel Bryan (13 November 2018, SmackDown)
WWE's business model has changed significantly since the launch of the Network, but there's still something to be said for programming feuds so they fall on the bigger pay-per-views. In November 2018, the company chucked that plan out of a nearby window and had Daniel Bryan lock horns with AJ Styles on SmackDown instead.
What's more, Bryan won the WWE Title on that 13 November episode and strolled into Survivor Series as a replacement for AJ against Brock Lesnar. It was shocking stuff, and it's hard to criticise WWE for promoting a fresh match. At the same time though, wouldn't it have been nice to see Styles vs. Bryan on a bigger stage?
Throwing them out there on free television without any real build (the match was set up that night) was random, and the whole thing could've done with a bit more hype. By the time their Tables, Ladders & Chairs rematch rolled around in December, it lacked that buzz of originality.
