10 More Wrestling Gimmicks So Bad They Didn’t Even Make It To TV

Jim Herd used to be a regional manager for Pizza Hut before he became Executive Vice President of WCW in 1988. This makes sense, considering he handled the company with as much grace and knowledge as a slice of pepperoni.

We'll get to Herd's biggest transgression, but for now let's focus on this absolute belter of a bad idea he had for a team called The Hunchbacks.

Herd's grand vision was to have the duo wear special costumes with arches built into their backs. Since their shoulders weren't parallel to their spines, that would make them impossible to pin, giving them an advantage.

That's a great idea! Except in all the ways it isn't.

Firstly, wrestling with a permanent hump in your back must be really difficult. Secondly, this is incredibly disrespectful to those who actually have curved spines. And thirdly, how do you tell stories with a team that physically cannot be beaten? Where do they go after "Oh, we can't lose?"

It was really dumb and thankfully the idea never made it on WCW programming. We don't even know which team was lined up to play them. Hopefully it was the Steiners - that would have been hilarious.
