10 More WWE Easter Eggs, References And In-Jokes You Never Noticed

8. A Kerwin Selfie

Kerwin Silfies might not necessarily be the most well-known name amongst casual WWE followers, but his fingerprints are all over the company's product, having served as a director and producer for over twenty years. Dust hard enough, and you might just find some of them.

Take, for example, the 27 June 1992 episode of WWF Superstars from Ontario's Copps Coliseum. After nefarious tag champs Money Inc. had finished stuffing another pair of no-hopers - and stuffing dollar bills down their throats - the camera cut to a gentleman in the crowd loudly jeering the rotters, holding up his own Canadian cash. On commentary, Vince McMahon casually (mis) identifies the chap as "Kerwin Silfies brother-in-law," a completely mystifying factoid to anybody not in on the rib.

A more on-the-nose reference to the long-term staffer came in 2004, when Chavo Guerrero was dismally repackaged as the WASPish, unnecessarily racist 'Kerwin White', a gimmick which we presume did not reflect his namesake's own values. Selfies can also be found making a little cameo in the production area of WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game - meaning he's appeared in more WWE video games than Marty Jannetty.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
