10 Most Absurd Characters In WrestleMania History

2. The Boogeyman

The Boogeyman is one of the most ridiculous competitors in WWE history, but his popularity cannot be denied. Perhaps that has to do with the fact that he was something entirely different at a time when wrestling was, at least creatively, in a slump of sorts. Perhaps it was because, right out of the proverbial gate, he was allowed to pick up clean pinfall wins over former heavyweight champions such as John Bradshaw Layfield. Whatever the case might have been, Boogeyman won over the WWE Universe. So much so that, at WrestleMania 22, a weeks-long feud with Booker T would culminate with Boogeyman defeating him and Sharmell in a Two-on-One Handicap match. The contest was awful, as one would come to expect from a match involving a guy who could eat the hell out of worms but did not know the difference between a wrist watch and a wristlock. Boogeyman would actually stick around longer than anyone could have imagined. He would appear at WrestleMania 23 in a backstage segment, though the twenty-second edition of the Showcase of the Immortals would be his one and only opportunity to compete on the grandest stage the industry has to offer. And that, most certainly, was a blessing for fans.
