10 Most Annoying Things In WWE Right Now
1. WWE is Making Money Regardless
Earlier in the week, it was announced that WWE had reached a huge deal with FOX. Starting next fall, SmackDown will air on FOX's broadcast network for at least five years for around $205 million per annum. Factored with the huge extension NBC Universal is likely going to give the company to keep RAW on the USA Network, plus whatever continued business deals are to come with the Saudi Arabian government, and it's clear that WWE are on easy street for many years to come.
And this, more than anything else, is putting fans in existential dread. The thought has been that for around 17 years, ever since the death of WCW, WWE have had no real incentive to be bold creatively or actually listen to the fans. The mindset is they can just do whatever because they're in no danger of going under. Essentially, all this money coming in from FOX, NBC, and oil-rich theocracies will cause the creative brass to get even more complacent and care even less about what fans actually think about the product.
I'm not completely sure I buy that sentiment, but with the way WWE has been quality-wise the past few weeks, you can't exactly blame the fans for that reaction.
