10 Most Annoying Things In WWE Right Now
2. The Cruiserweight Title Is Dead (Again)
Oh, 205 Live. The little brand that could.
Or rather, can't. As in: the cruiserweight division cannot seem to garner any sort of momentum or fan interest. Even when 205 Live has seen an uptick in quality under Triple H's oversight, the problems that have plagued the brand (lethargic half-empty crowd, lack of promotion on other shows) continue to keep it from any sort of growth.
That latter problem is especially glaring. Back in 2016 when the brand started, it was thought that the cruiserweight division would be exclusive to RAW to pad out the running time. Nowadays, the cruiserweights have completely disappeared from RAW, and there's no indication the title will get a sniff of PPV time going forward, leaving the entire division in its own little one-hour island on Tuesdays.
Needless to say, it's been part of a long and depressing journey for a division that was started up again with so much promise after the Cruiserweight Classic. However, WWE failed to understand what made that tournament work, and has made some of their most talented high-flyers into bodies collecting paychecks performing flips for crowds of no one.
It's a microcosm of a larger-scale misuse of their best talent.
