10 Most Anti-Climactic WWE Moments Of 2017
7. Joe Comes Up Short
The build-up to Brock Lesnar's Great Balls of Fire clash with Samoa Joe was virtually flawless, to the extent that it didn't matter they were facing each other at a show named Great Balls of Fire.
A victory for Joe, of course, always seemed pretty unlikely, but thanks to some searingly intense split-screen interviews and Lesnar selling the Coquina Clutch like we haven't seen since he was inside the Octagon, there at least seemed to be an outside chance.
The challenger was made into a legitimate contender, both by his own mic work and that of Paul Heyman, who did an admirable job in selling the idea that this relative unknown (by WWE standards, anyway) could hang in the ring with his unconquerable client.
But, at the show itself, we got just seven minutes of action. They were some of the best seven minutes of action you'll ever see, to be fair, but it seemed like we'd been ripped off all the same - particularly after Joe's pre-bell ambush, which made it seem for a moment as though he really was about to supplant the Beast Incarnate after all.
