The Dragon Sleeper was invented by the legendary Tatsumi Fujinami but was popularised by the great Último Dragón during his time wrestling in the United States.

Since its popularity has grown, it has been used by The Undertaker, Low Ki and Aleister/Malakei Black. Other users of the move also include Drew Gulak, who utilizes a kneeling variation known as the Gu-Lock, and SANADA of New Japan Pro Wrestling, who applies a body-scissors afterwards, taking his opponent to the floor in a finishing submission move known as the Skull End.

As beautiful as SANADA’s Skull End is, it doesn’t quite exceed the inverted facelock that is known as the Dragon Sleeper made famous by Último Dragón. If you don’t know already, Dragón is one of the most decorated champions in wrestling history, at one time holding ten belts simultaneously; the only wrestler to ever do so. This included the eight championships in the J-Crown, the NWA World Middleweight Championship, and the WCW Cruiserweight Championship. He currently works for Dragon Gate as both a wrestler and a senior adviser.
