The Muta Lock is an inverted Indian deathlock facelock that was invented by Japanese wrestling legend The Great Muta.

Over the years, it has been used by many wrestlers wanting to make an impact inside the squared circle, with both Melina Perez's California Dream and Tenille Dashwood's Emma Lock during her time in WWE being two of the most famous examples of the submission hold. Like with so many wrestling moves and their inventors, no one does it as good or better than the originator.

The Great Muta, who is also known as Keiji Mutoh, is still wrestling to this day and can still lock in his signature submission hold. The Muta Lock is a variation of the STF, which many will be familiar with - especially fans who have ever watched a John Cena match.

Muta has recently been the GCW Heavyweight Champion in Pro Wrestling NOAH, where he is currently signed. He is best known to western audiences for his work in the NWA and later WCW, making him one of the first Japanese wrestlers to gain a huge fanbase outside of his native Japan.
