It is safe to say Jerry Lawler’s best days on commentary are behind him. By all means, the man is a legend of the business and will always be remembered as such, despite some rather problematic things that used to come out of his mouth.

Unfortunately, old habits do die hard. And this came back to haunt the King on an episode of Raw this year. While commentating on a match involving Akira Tozawa, who of course is Japanese, Lawler described one of his moves as a “Ramen Noodle Moonsault”.

Now, the problematic undertones are fairly obvious here. Jerry Lawler’s subsequent apology wasn’t any help either because basically it wasn’t an apology at all. Given the uncomfortable nature of this moment and the aftermath, it is probably for the best that King is no longer on active commentary duty.
