CHAD. GABLE. Now that that's settled, Gable has so much more to offer, and it is a damning indictment of the current system that many underdogs exist in present WWE are born not because of their stature or their determination, but out of the will of the people to see their favorites succeed in spite of, rather than because of, the booking.

There is probably a clever, nuanced way to portray a character like Chad Gable. Someone who embraces what others may see as a detriment and uses it to rise above, stand up to bullies, and emerge victorious. Honestly, the Nia Jax/Alexa Bliss storyline was not a terrible example. What doesn't help is Gable being on the losing end of a feud with Sheamus.

This story writes itself. People want to believe in the shorter, scrappier babyface that believes in himself. He is someone the crowd can empathize with, who has a respectable work ethic, and has a trump card in his deceptive power game on top of his agility. But if you book that person to be a perennial loser, then it is only a matter of time before the audience stops believing in him.

Gable can, and has, proved that he has what it takes to be a major player in the organization if only the company would get behind him. The crowd WANTS to believe in Gable, and the obligation is on WWE to give them a reason.
