Around six months before the remnants of the company were bought over by Vince McMahon, WCW produced some of the strangest matches and scenarios ever. On the October 2, 2000 edition of Monday Nitro, the broadcast was headlined by the first ever 'San Francisco 49ers' Match between Booker T and Jeff Jarrett.

The tarnished WCW World Title was on the line, but it wasn't worn to the ring by either man. Incredibly, Vince Russo had been the previous champion, but decided to vacate the belt in time for this main event. Therefore, the title would be placed in one of the boxes that were the focal point of the match.

There were four boxes in total, three housing weapons and one containing the title. The object was to ground your opponent then open the crates one by one. Along the way, one was opened by Booker, who found a framed promo pic of Scott Hall inside.

Kooky till the end, the match actually hampered both wrestlers, who had shown they could produce good matches before when not bogged down with wacky gimmicks.
