Scanning the field for the 1995 King Of The Ring tournament makes it clear that Vince McMahon was struggling for talent around that time. Mabel, The Undertaker, The Roadie, Savio Vega, Shawn Michaels, Kama, Yokozuna, and Bob Holly were all involved in the tournament on pay-per-view, with only Michaels and Undertaker really seeming like realistic choices to win.

Incredibly, both those major stars would be ousted at the Quarter Final round. Michaels went to a 15-minute draw with Kama, eliminating both. Meanwhile, The Undertaker - the biggest babyface in the whole thing - was soundly beaten by Mabel. Fans in attendance were left scratching their heads.

Another outside choice, Yokozuna was beaten by Savio Vega. The Puerto Rican would make it to the Final, but he would see defeat at the hands of Mabel. A comedy tag-team wrestler before this ascent, Mabel was a supremely random choice to win the King Of The Ring.

Vince McMahon clearly believed Mabel's size made him perfect heel foil for Diesel, but few watching agreed with such an idea.
