10 Most Blatant Times WWE Tried To Rewrite Its Own History

7. I Am, I Am (Not On Camera)

Veteran of the independent scene, former Bullet Club leader, and one of the only reasons to watch TNA past 2007, AJ Styles made his first major appearance in WWE at the 2016 Royal Rumble.

The Phenomenal One entered at number 3 to a huge ovation from the crowd, stunning the world with such a grand debut. But this was nowhere near as stunning as the baffling camera work that accompanied this moment.

Roman Reigns was the only man in the ring when AJ's music started to play. The camera held on Roman's face for a moment, before cutting to a wide shot as the words "I Am Phenomenal" appeared on the titantron. Those in the know recognised this as AJ's signature moniker and went ballistic.

At least, that's what happened according to WWE's retelling of events.

What actually happened was that the camera stayed on Roman's face the entire time. It only cut to AJ once he'd walked out of the tunnel, after the crowd had popped.

Those watching at home had no idea what was going on until the moment had passed and WWE were forced to fix this huge error in post.

That's hardly phenomenal, is it?
