AEW's Jake Hager, formerly known as WWE's Jack Swagger, is somewhat famous in Money in the Bank circles for botching his own victory at WrestleMania XXVI. Here, he took an embarrassingly long time to unhook the briefcase, foreshadowing how puzzling a choice he would eventually make as Mr. Money in the Bank. What many fans may not remember is that this would not be his only unscripted MITB error.

No, his blunder in 2011 was far more painful.

In what was a serviceable MITB encounter, the competitors left no stone unturned, crafting many unique spots previously unseen in this format. Case in point, the finish which saw victor Alberto Del Rio remove Rey Mysterio’s mask to provide the key match-winning opportunity. Awkwardly though, the ladders slowly became unbalanced, leaving the masked luchador prone to a unpleasant rib bump.

But this was not the most jarring botch from the closing stages.

Dramatic false finishes are the bread and butter of MITB, seen here when Kofi Kingston appeared destined to win, before Jack Swagger interrupted. In sloppy and incredibly nasty scenes, both men then slipped from atop a ladder, with Swagger's body rapidly rotating on the way down, landing hard on his side in terrifying fashion.

Considering the environment’s nature, it’s a wonder we don’t see things like this happen more often.
