Those voices in Randy's head may council him, but not to great effect. In 2009, WWE ran an unedifying angle in which Orton punted Vince McMahon square in the bonce. To account for his actions, the Viper revealed that he suffered from Intermittent Explosive Disorder, both vilifying and trivialising a legitimate mental condition in the process.

The extremely insensitive angle was apparently just a massive in-joke to pop WWE's staffers. Three years earlier, Orton attended a company-commissioned anger management course in Atlanta after numerous aggressive incidents. It didn't do the trick; a year later, the Viper's sting returned as he was sent home from a European tour after causing $50,000 of damage to his hotel room. Orton's punishment? You can probably guess.
