10 Most Controversial Wrestlers Of 2017

7. Enzo Amore

For:

Dripping with charisma, Enzo Amore is one of few WWE acts granted the vote of confidence to impose his own personality in his promos, which are invariably entertaining. Carried himself very obnoxiously during the latter months of 2016, indirectly lending his 2017 heel turn a sense of loathsome credibility. For a supposedly selfish pr*ck, he plays well with others; he backed up Big Cass with even more conviction than the size-obsessed Vince McMahon, and elevated amiable straight man Drew Gulak with well-timed reactions and carefully-phrased barbs. Fun to watch...

Against:

...the very second before he steps foot in the ring; even when paired with the consistently dependable good hands of the Cruiserweight division, the relationship isn't as symbiotic as WWE hoped. Gulak benefits from Enzo's star power, but Enzo, clumsy, dangerous and a bit boring, seems incapable of a level beyond "not that bad, actually" when the bell rings. Arrogance probably has much to do with it, ironically.

Author Verdict:

Enzo Amore is a star in the wrong galaxy - a symbol of WWE's weird refusal to honour the tried-and-true manager trope of old.
