Simply put, Shawn Michaels is one of the greatest performers the wrestling industry has ever produced. Regardless of opponent, circumstances or quality of storyline, HBK has always put his all into every situation, and his involvement usually intimates that there's an entertainment segment upcoming. Pulling on the referee shirt on more than once occasion, Michaels was a big part of the gripping title match between hated rival Bret Hart and The Undertaker at Summerslam 1997. On the receiving end of a gob of spit from Hart, the 'Showstopper' nonetheless counted fairly when 'Taker was on the mat, and Bret left as champion. In May, 2000, Michaels officiated the Iron Man bout between The Rock and Triple H at Judgment Day, again becoming controversially involved.
