10 Most Courageous WWE Moments
8. Droz Forgives D'Lo Brown
Nobody can say for sure if Darren Drozdov was in line to become a major star in WWE before his career-ending injury in October 1999, but he was young enough (30, at the time of the accident) to make a go of it. Sadly, he wouldn't get the chance.
During a match with D'Lo Brown on SmackDown, Droz was left paralysed from the neck down by a botched Running Powerbomb spot. It was a move Brown had performed hundreds of times before without incident, but an unfortunate slip meant Drozdov landed hard on his neck and was rushed to hospital before being wheelchair-bound.
In Mick Foley's first autobiography, the legend recalled hearing Droz absolve D'Lo of any blame as he lay prone on a stretcher in hospital. That right there is one of the most courageous decisions he could have made. Droz was surely emotional, angry and swimming in a sea of negative thoughts.
For him to take the time to put Brown's mind at rest shows his decency, as well as immense strength of mind.
