7. Randy Orton Over Christian

Extreme Rules functioned as the backdrop for Christian's maiden WWE World Heavyweight Title win in 2011. It wasn't exactly what fans of his had in mind - we would have been much happier with confetti at WrestleMania - but it was long overdue, and details can sometimes be overlooked.

What can't be overlooked, however, is the fact that he then lost the belt just 48 hours later after running into Randy Orton on SmackDown, a defeat that confirmed to all of those excited Peeps that this reign was just a small drop of water in a desert of disappointment.

In terms of the product, the decision was understandable on some level. The Viper taking the belt (and crushing Christian's - and all of our - dreams) meant that the pair of them could feud for a few months more, delivering a series of brilliant matches in the process.

But for the former TNA star's prospects, it represented a stiff blow. A career mid-carder, Christian had taken years to establish himself at the top of the wrestling food chain, and for his big main event run to be cut short so soon after it began seemed like a way of communicating to fans that he wasn't, and would never be, Vince McMahon's guy.
