10 Most Damaging WWE Defeats

3. Roman Reigns Over Daniel Bryan

With the benefit of hindsight, it's now clear that Daniel Bryan wasn't the right man around whom to build the WWE product around at the beginning of 2015. His career, as it turned out, would only last a further couple of months before being brought to a tragically abrupt, injury-enforced end.

As such, this one is less about the loser than it is the winner. Bryan's defeat - when so many were desperate for him to repeat his success from the year before by capturing the World Title in the WrestleMania main event - was damaging for Roman Reigns.

It basically meant that Roman, for better or worse, was now cast in the role of the internet wrestling community's boogeyman, taking the mantle from John Cena, who carried it with pride for nearly a decade.

The affect of this decision is perhaps still in evidence today. However much WWE tries to depart from the Superman Cena formula - having The Big Dog go for the secondary belt instead, keeping him out of the main event scene - they keep running into walls.

To smark fans, he's forever tainted - and it began here.
