Stories popped up in wrestling magazines and online in the late-90s/early-2000s about Scott Steiner's disorderly conduct behind the scenes in WCW. Amongst other things, Steiner reportedly threatened backstage staff, was volatile as all hell and even had to be pulled off an under fire DDP following a backstage fight.

WCW needed an army to calm 'Big Poppa Pump' down.

All of this fed neatly into the aura surrounding his rebrand from 1998 onwards. For approx three solid years, Steiner carried himself like an unpredictable muscle head who'd fly off the handle without warning and beat the snot out of anybody near him. That added so, so much to his on-screen work, and shouldn't be understated.

Scott's rebellious vibes were still in full effect by the time he inked a WWE deal and joined the company in late-2002. A cry of, "Gimme the f*ckin' mic" during his Survivor Series debut only furthered notions that Steiner couldn't be tamed. He was wrestling's most unstable character for a while.
