10 Most Disappointing Wrestlers Of 2016
4. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows
Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows WWE run has been a crash course in how to murder a tag team’s credibility. The duo made an excellent debut by jumping The Usos on an episode of Raw, and soon became embroiled in old pal AJ Styles’ ongoing war with Roman Reigns. Their allegiance heralded the start of Styles’ heel turn, and while often used as The Club’s fall guys, Anderson & Gallows at least got to rub shoulders with some of the company’s biggest names.
The theme continued throughout Styles’ feud with John Cena, but the duo have been lost at sea since the Brand Split separated them from AJ. For whatever reason, WWE decided to reinvent Gallows & Anderson as a goofball comedy act. Their mercenary personas were stripped away, and instead of kicking asses and taking names, Anderson & Gallows started losing every week and collecting testicles.
Their “ringpost-itis” run was horrendous, and “The Old Day” was WWE’s worst segment of 2016. It looks like WWE are finally moving away from this direction, but it might be too little too late. The duo’s endless stream of losses to The New Day has wrecked their credibility between the ropes, and the Vince McMahon-appeasing comedy skits ensure it’ll be a long time before they’re taken seriously again.
