11 New Day WWE Moments We Won’t Soon Forget

New Day might have ended, but there are plenty of great memories to make you smile.

The New Day
WWE

The wrestling world received a jolt this past weekend when the latest round of WWE releases included 2 names believed to be lifers with the company: Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, collectively known as the New Day.

A staple of WWE programming for the past 12 years, New Day survived doubters, terrible booking and the mercurial management of previous ownership to not just survive but thrive in a way that few acts in wrestling history have through the years. Their longevity alone is a testimony to their greatness, but their ability to live the colloquialism of “making chicken salad out of chickens***” is truly remarkable.

The New Day had their fair share of ups and downs throughout a decade-plus run together, but what they accomplished as a unit is nothing short of astonishing; and not just the hardware (2 World Titles, 13 tag title reigns, a King Of The Ring win and a Money In The Bank winner), but as a stereotype-breaking act that didn’t fit into the existing archetypes for black wrestlers.

With Kofi and Woods’ departure and Big E retired from active competition, the New Day's tenure in WWE has officially come to an end. However, there are plenty of memories to warm everyone’s hearts, and we’ve compiled just some of those moments and milestones to help you remember the legendary trio.

Let’s get to it. Pancakes, Booty-Os and all.

Big E Goldberg Big Meaty Men
WWE

Whilst not technically part of the New Day storylines or characters, their 'Feel The Power' podcast produced an absolutely hilarious line from a hysterical Big E that has carried over into the wrestling fan lexicon today.

During one episode, E answered a fan question about their dream matches, revealing that his individual dream match would be against Goldberg. He then proceeded to go on a joking rant about not wanting to hear about workrate and moonsaults or a 5-star match. He said he wanted to see 2 “big men with big…chests and big muscles bumpin’ meat.”

Then he delivered the line through tears of laughter: “Big meaty men slappin’ meat!”

Since then, that phrase has been used countless times, with fans distilling it down to chanting, “Meat!” whenever beefy wrestlers are facing off in the ring. It all started with Big E ranting his way through a fan question on New Day’s podcast.
