10 Most Disappointing WWE Moments Of 2020 (So Far)

7. Gronk

If Vinnie Mac ever mutters Rob Gronkowski's shorthand nickname again, it'll likely come with a curse word attached. The former New England Patriot was heralded as a major coup for the company when he signed with WWE, and serious plans were put in place to turn Rob from NFL tight end king into a solid pro wrestler.

Then, he decided he'd rather go play football again.

The turnaround was remarkably quick. Gronk arrived amidst much fanfare, won the comedic 24/7 Title, danced like someone's dad at a wedding after one too many and then bolted back to the warm cosy bosom of Tom Brady. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers profited, and WWE lost someone they hoped would attract casuals.

This should act as a lesson to the promotion that they can't always trust celebrity rub. Gronkowski messed them around, intentionally or otherwise, and ended up having one of the most mediocre, short runs in WWE history.

Fingers crossed they can still shift all that merch.
