11 Most Disturbing Family Member Angles In WWE History

3. Vince McMahon Sedates His Wife

Perhaps the most famous of all the angles on this list - certainly the one to culminate on the biggest stage - was Vince McMahon's emotional torture and sedation of wife. After sending Linda into shock by demanding a divorce, Vince confined her to a wheelchair and kept her in a state of shock with "meds". Unspecified, storyline-convenient, non-fatal meds. Looking back, Mr. McMahon had a lot on his plate in early 2001. Not only was he reducing his wife to an unresponsive, vulnerable state, he was also contending with Shane's defection and purchase of WCW, and conspiring with Steve Austin to screw The Rock out of the WWE Championship. It's hard not to feel for the guy, right? He must have been knackered. The angle ended at WrestleMania X-Seven in a genuinely enthralling Vince vs. Shane street fight, which saw Linda miraculously recover at the perfect moment, rising from her chair and booting her devious husband right in the crotch (it later transpired that Trish Stratus had stopped drugging up the CEO of WWE). As awful as the entire build-up was, this ending was, admittedly, rather awesome. It's worth watching, if only to hear the monstrous pop Linda receives as she stands to administer the epic kick to the jimmies. However, it's impossible the forgive this storyline on the back of its fun pay-off. Various aspects were incredibly disturbing, from Vince grotesquely making out with Trish right in front of his immobilised wife, to screaming "bitch!' right in her face at 'Mania. A small positive might be the fact that Linda - never the most expressive of actresses - was perfect for the role. Zing.
