11 Most Disturbing Family Member Angles In WWE History
4. "I'm Your Papi!"
Of all the stipulations in WWE history, are any more unintentionally hilarious than the 'Custody of Dominick Ladder Match'? Said showdown was the culmination of an utterly absurd feud, built upon the story of Eddie Guerrero just giving Rey Mysterio his baby to raise (because he knew Rey and his wife were having trouble getting pregnant). Various legal issues and gaping plot holes aside, Eddie suddenly decided to reclaim custody of his son (played by Rey's real-life son, Dominick), leading to one of the strangest stipulations ever. The build-up was disturbing, as Guerrero gradually revealed the history of Dominick throughout a series of promos called - wait for it - 'Eddie's Bedtime Stories'. Eddie was even shown turning up at the playground of Dominick's school in order to tell him said story...WWE certainly weren't skimping on the creepiness with this one. Thankfully, Rey won the match at SummerSlam 2005, with a little help from Vickie Guerrero (once she finally made it to the ring, having initially missed her cue). It doesn't bear thinking about the consequences of an Eddie victory, though, as there'd probably have been vignettes of Latino Heat and Dominick playing catch and going on father/son 'lying, cheating and stealing' trips. Tragically, this was to be one of the last major angles of Guerrero's career. It's a shame he was never given one last run with a meaningful title, but his "I'm Your Papi" line was at least taken out of its cringeworthy context. It instead lives on as a reminder of Eddie's legacy, and the t-shirt bearing the phrase was worn by a great number of superstars during his memorial show.
