11 Most Disturbing Family Member Angles In WWE History
5. Vince Interviews Brian Pillman's Wife
Most of the disturbing angles at least have the benefit of existing in kayfabe. Eric Bischoff didn't really allow the savage beating of his disabled nephew, and Vince McMahon didn't actually choke out his own daughter with a lead pipe. However, Vince's on-air interview of Melanie Pillman - just 24 hours after her husband's tragic death - was horrifyingly real. On October 5th 1997, the day of the Badd Blood pay per view, Brian Pillman suffered a fatal heart attack in his hotel room. He was only 35. It was been suggested that Vince, in the midst of the Monday Night Wars, would do anything for a rating - and this incident certainly suggests so. Just a day after her husband's death, Melanie was invited to take part in an interview segment on Raw, in which Vince asked her a series of shockingly inappropriate questions. Brian's reliance on painkillers was mentioned, as Vince seemed more concerned with shifting blame away from himself than act in an appropriately sensitive manner. Most shockingly, he also asked Melanie outright how she intended to support her children as a single mother. The segment was utterly deplorable, and must surely be considered one of the most shameless, exploitative moments in WWE history.
