5. Randy Orton Tortures Jeff Hardy (Hell In A Cell 2018)

Here's one from less than two years ago that's already been glossed over in WWE's world.

At Hell In A Cell 2018, long before he was being a manipulative sod to Edge and Beth Phoenix, Randy Orton enjoyed the agony he was inflicting on Jeff Hardy. During their Cell encounter, Randy grabbed a screwdriver, wedged it into the hole in Jeff's ear where one of his plugs had been and twisted it until the flesh went red.

Anyone watching who was a little squeamish likely threw up into their popcorn. Closeups from WWE's cameras left nothing to the imagination, and they switched between Orton's grim delight at being so foul and an ear lobe that seemed like it'd rip at any second. What a giggle this pro wrestling lark is, eh?

WWE haven't replayed this HIAC pain during the build towards Jeff's return, probs because they realise it was a little over-the-top. Brilliantly dark and violent, but a bit much considering they're still technically a PG product.

That wasn't the first time Randy had gone all maniacal sadist on pay-per-view.
