10 Most Embarrassing Wrestling Botches Of 2021 (So Far)
4. Charlotte Vs. Hot Air
Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley
Raw Women’s Championship
WWE Hell in a Cell 2021
Charlotte and Rhea are among the best that WWE has under contract. Both women are fierce competitors in the ring, look like top-tier athletes, and kill it on the mic. The two also have the advantage of great chemistry, which allows them to blur the lines between face and heel without confusing or losing fans.
Flair vs. Ripley was a highly anticipated bout, even if there was some disappointment that the two were not taking their feud inside the pay-per-view’s titular match. All these factors added together meant that the margin for error was extremely tight.
With Ripley grounded on her hands and knees, Flair lashed out with kicks. However, to sell her fury, Charlotte flipped her hair around obscuring her view. Of the three kicks attempted, zero landed. Ripley sold the first boot, flinched at the second, and no sold the final, which the camera angle made clear was a few feet off target. If Rhea sold the final kick, she would have been left looking foolish.
It took many fans out of the match, but knowing the professionalism of Charlotte, nobody will have been more disappointed than her.
