10 Most Epic Debuts At WWE PPVs

2. The Shield - Survivor Series 2012

One of the most recent entries on this list involves arguably the greatest stable in WWE history. In 2012, at the Survivor Series (surprise, surprise), CM Punk appeared to be on the verge of losing his WWE title at the hands of Ryback. Cue the standard interference. But exactly who it was that would interfere, no one could have predicted. Three unidentified assailants, dressed entirely in black, made a break for the ring and dished out a brutal beatdown to the Big Hungry. Were they fans? Were they plants? At the time it was difficult to tell€”the lines were being blurred. The triumvirate then took to the outside, where they powerbombed Ryback through the announce tale and were identified by Michael Cole as Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns from NXT. While it was similar to the Nexus invasion of 2010, this one came on the much grander stage of a WWE Championship PPV main event. Furthermore, these guys had never even been featured on any form of WWE TV before€”it was a truly unprecedented move, and just the shot of adrenaline that the WWE needed at the time. The edgy, unexpected and downright entertaining debut would be a sign of things to come. It set the tone for the rest of their work over the next year and a half and elevated the trio to a main event standing that they will likely maintain for a long time to come.
