10 Most Fake Wrestling Weapons Ever

3. Barbed Wire

Before you break out the pitchforks and torches, let us explain.

Some barbed wire in wrestling is real. Most hardcore promotions will bust out the actual stuff for their matches and bigger companies like WWE made use of actual barbed wire back in the Attitude Era. However, since they went PG, they haven't touched it.

One notable pre-PG example of fake barbed wire being used is the legendary Street Fight between Triple H and Cactus Jack at the 2000 Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

As Mick Foley writes in his book, the Hardcore Legend had no qualms about taking real barbed wire shots in the match. As for The Game, who was much less used to the deathmatch style, he refused to be hit with it for real.

A workaround was created in which Trips would only be hit with wire covered in rubber tips. Understandably, this makes the entire experience much more pleasant.

Rubber-tipped barbed wire, as well as replicas made from leather or copper, are used across wrestling as a much safer alternative

As for poor old Mick, he was left with the real thing. Don't feel too bad for him though, as he probably loved it.
