6. 'The Model' Rick Martel

Once a happy-go-lucky, smiling babyface, Rick Martel morphed into the egotistical 'Model' in 1989. The gimmick was put together solely to give Martel a chance as a heel singles star. Previously, the man had formed teams such as the Can-Am Connection (with Tom Zenk) and Strike Force (with Tito Santana). Now, he was asked to be a vain, arrogant individual. Preened to perfection, Martel was easy for people in the audience to loathe. Unlike previously mentioned stars such as Val Venis and Rick Rude, 'The Model' was hated by most fans male or female. Carrying his trademark atomizer to the ring, Martel sprayed fans with his own fragrance, 'Arrogance'. This was a brilliant quirk, and it didn't take long for Rick Martel to get over in the role.
